History

Group-73.png

Montreal, the South Shore and the North Shore of Montreal and the rest of Quebec have their own small diaspora from the 54 countries of our native Africa: Ivorians, Malians, Guineans, Senegalese, Moroccans, Somalians, Chadians, Gabonese, Egyptians, Botswanans, Seychellois, Cape Verdeans, Namibians and others live there, work there and raise their families there. In everyday life, there are very few occasions when everyone gets together, except for parties, baptisms or weddings. Unfortunately, many people forget that we are here together, and that an important element unites us: our culture. Thus, on Saturday, November 6, 2010, the CDS Balimaya organized its first meeting with the African community in Montreal. Since its creation, the CDS is no longer just a gathering of Africans but a strong group made up of members and supporters from all four corners of the globe. It is in this vision of a more united and informed immigrant community that the CDS Balimaya organizes its events and activities where the word “Balimaya” takes on its full meaning: fraternity. Because fraternity means acting for development.
